As this amazing year for Broadway comes to an end, here at RealBroadway we would like to acknowledge some of the best shows and performances of the year. This article however, is gonna be a little different then our other articles on this site, because this one will be a little more of our emotions in it instead of just a computer screen talking. And please note, these are our opinions. That being said, lets waste no time and get right into this, with the best shows of 2017.
5. Hello Dolly

This classic revival was an amazing success among critics and fans alike. Bette Midlers wonderful performance can't be described as anything but. This show got everyone in their hearts and stood there. fantastic job.

4. Hamilton
Lin Manuel Miranda's tale about the forgotten founding father destroyed the box office and absolutely took the world by storm. Even with Miranda's leave and replacement the show still stole fans hearts. Personally the show meant so much to me and I am so happy that it's run will be a long lasting one.

3.waitress
Where to begin with this one. Waitress took the world by storm early 2016, but even now its message and music is timeless. With Sara Bareilles set to return as Jenna January 26, even more fans will start coming back to see the show. With a very touching plot and funny cast we couldn't not put this one on the list,

2. SpongeBob Squarepants
Only recently debuting on Broadway, people didn't imagine the show to be as good as it is. with many newcomers and many veteran actors, the show is nothing like the TV show, but it is still able to maintain that feel that we grew up too. Ethan, Lili, Danny, your doing a great job.

1.Dear Evan Hansen
Now this one may not come as a surprise, but it's accurate. Words cannot describe how this show has touched me, and all the people who have connected with it. The message and the outstanding performances by the cast just make me believe that this fantastic show deserves this number one spot. I love you people so much.
We are half way there people! right now take a break, stretch, breath, before we start counting down the best actors and actresses of 2017

5. Christian Borle in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
This man is absolutely amazing. From Falsettos to Something Rotten to this he makes us all go deep into his world of imagination. Even though Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has a limited run, it is an amazing show with an amazing and intriguing performance by Borle. I had the opportunity to go see it and I can tell you from experience that it is wonderful. Thank you Christian.

4.Christy Altomare in Anastasia
This musical adaptation does justice to its source material very well.
But we aren't here to talk about the show, we are here to talk about Christy Altomare's fantastic performance as Anastasia. Her Beautiful voice and her wonderful acting chops give her all she deserves to make this role fabulous.

3. Hailey Kilgore in Once on this Island
A new show on Broadway, Once on this Island is charming and powerful, and it has a stellar cast, including our number 3 pick Hailey Kilgore. Her talent cannot be described without smiling, for it is what every actress strives to have. Even though it just recently opened on Broadway, we hope Kilgore and the rest of the cast have a long happy run.

2. Ethan Slater in SpongeBob Squarepants
Like Once on this Island, SpongeBob Squarepants only recently opened on Broadway, but that doesn't matter, because it is a huge Success. Ethan Slaters performance stood out to us, because he still is maintaining the Character of SpongeBob, But he is giving new life to the Character. With his voice and talents we had to put him on this list.

1. Ben Platt in Dear Evan Hansen
Now This last one will get me right in the heart. This show and this cast have touched my heart in a way like no other. The compelling story and the Chemistry with the cast is like no other. Ben Platt, I'm so sad that you left, but you gave us one of the best performances I have ever seen. You absolutely felt the audience and the audience felt you. I can't thank you enough, and that's why you are number 1 on our list.
From all of us here at RealBroadway we thank you for being with us this year. See you in 2018
