FOX's "A Christmas Story Live" Was an amazing success

Last night, the live musical version of the hit movie aired on FOX, and critics could not be happier with the performance. With original songs by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the same duo behind Dear Evan Hansen, and The Greatest Snowman, and songs from the Broadway musical, It was fabulously performed by the whole cast, including Tony winner Matthew Broderick, as the grown-up Ralphie, served as narrator for the three-hour event, and 11-year-old newcomer Andy Walken played the central role of Ralphie. Tony winner Jane Krakowski was Ralphie’s teacher Miss Shields, with Waitress alum Chris Diamantopoulos and SNL veteran Maya Rudolph as Ralphie’s parents. Wicked and SNL alum Ana Gasteyer played Mrs. Schwartz, the mother of one of Ralphie’s friends.

The story follows A young boy in the nineteen forties, who only wants one thing for Christmas: A 24 action BB Gun. But everything he does just keeps ruining his chances. The movie was a big hit, with a Broadway musical following. And now with all the buzz around live productions, Warner Brothers studios got in on the action with "A Christmas Story Live!" With many big names in the production, including veteran stage actor Matthew Broderick, The show was set to be a hit. And it did not disappoint. Shot in the back lot of Warner Bros. Studios, the show was funny, musical, and still able to maintain the original story.

Scott Ellis oversaw the stage direction, while fellow executive producer Alex Rudzinski served as a live television director. The New Arts music division of warner music group released the soundtrack today, to the publics excitement. Now that "A Christmas Story Live!" Is over. FOX also has a live adaptation of Jonathan Larsons Hit musical "Rent" in the works. The musical is set for 2019.
